Desperation smeared over with hope.

That rotten cruel thing, hope.

That promises and promises

never ever delivers.

And there, standing in power groups alongside their lackeys, the corporate head office men in suits — smiling.

Living up to their mission statements of social responsibility while safeguarding profits.

Checking their watches,

their smartphones,

Many places they’d rather be, but the show must go on, the fiction of inclusion must be attended to.

An hour or two of discomfort for a billion in profit.

Oh how the rich suffer for their wealth.
