Why we make cheese now. Got Schwifty

We were working on food businesses across the world. Managing, building, consulting, branding, marketing, financing, selling, connecting and all that shit.

For the last 10 years it was all office, brainstorming sessions, consumer portraits, investor meetings, corporate partnerships and whatnot.

Launching extra crispy vegan cucumber dairy free ethically sourced preservative free avocado chia seed protein infused ice cubes for pregnant gender fluid parrot owners in London and Hamamatsu in Japan.

It helped us build loads of experience and knowledge so that the big guys would shut up and listen to what our wicked minds had to say. In fact this drove us to Thailand — love for food, entrepreneurship and that people in grey suits are in panic with this whole world of electric cars, tattoos on kids faces, weirdness, bitcoin, silkroad drug markets, Vice media and instagram millionaires.

Few years ago we said that if we are branching out of London, then it should be to Asia. And if Thailand seems to love us and our focus on food, innovation and entrepreneurs — fuck it, were doing it there then.

According to Urban Dictionary — Schwifty means getting horny in a club.

At this point the premise is 3 Lithuanian guys living and working in Bangkok, consulting food companies and dealing with making stuff yet actually not making stuff with our own hands.

After few years of exhausting yourself creatively I suppose everyone has to find their balance. Their point of Zen. From very early age the appreciation for quality was beat into our brains with a stick. Perfectionism at it’s finest with everything you do — aesthetics, smell, taste, story, feel, spirit, touch — whatever is worth doing is worth doing it right.

We have tried amazing food around Thailand, but we missed one thing from Europe — obsession with the quality of sole ingredient. Obsession with details and the process of making.

That’s were we had our mount Sinai moment. Spirit from behind condominium apartments in west Bangkok rose and told us go and put our obsessive and perfectionist souls to something that was worth doing!

“SHOW ME WHAT YOU’VE GOT!” — said the spirit.

Maybe it wasn’t the spirit, but watching too much of Rick and Morty at the time? We were inspired to be a little more spontaneous with what we do with our lives. Shit, we had a whole lot of “know how” too, so why not try to make something ourselves.

So we started making fresh mozzarella from home.

Stretching the mozzarella is one of the most satisfying things to do!

Life became a little more exciting. We said that we are going to make our own cheese and we’ll not rest until we are the best in it around South East Asia.

We started from fresh mozzarella, adding more amazing stuff we love to make.

It is our own meditation, our way of expressing creativity, our way to put energy to something that makes people indulge in life a bit more. It’s taking theory we obtained and putting it to practice. Our passion, adventure and our own journey.

At first we used our knowledge, our intuition, our kitchen, our contacts and networks, got shitty milk first, then we got the good one, tried it on our friends and ourselves. Failed. Got it right. Then got it right again. And Again. Went out to sell it. Sold it. People loved it and wanted more. So we made some more.

About that time we simply called it Schwifty. Inspired by the episode from Rick and Morty where giant floating heads came to earth asking people to show what they’ve got.

Made up word with a suggested meaning of letting it go, showing what you’ve got, who you truly are and just simply doing it. It does not have attributes or associations with damn fields in the Alps, nor it sounds Italian for fake authenticity. But we’ve made enough brands that make sense, so let’s make one that just best described the emotion that held us at the point of starting this venture adventure.

Our intention is to continue building our playground, our factory for items of passion and precision under the same connective emotion of being true to oneself. Now we produce most awesome mozzarella in Thailand. Later we will add one more new product at a time. All made with same love for perfection and simplicity.

If you have same passion to make stuff — let’s grab a drink and get Schwifty. Let’s figure out how and let’s make it. Easy peasy.
