As a sales professional, there are many benefits of taking the time to write a handwritten note to your customers and prospects. Some of these benefits include:

However, when you dig deeper, there are a couple of things that I would consider “hidden”, or items that we wouldn’t realize the impacts the handwritten note would have.

Showing gratitude is something we can easily take advantage of in the sales world. Sending a note after a closed sale, after a demo, or after a first meeting are easy times to send a note.

However, often times it can be overlooked. When we close a sale we can often look at it as part of our job and forget to show the appreciation to the customer who put their trust in you. Often times it is easily forgotten due to selfishness or plain laziness.

Have you ever thought of how your sales life would be affected if you showed more gratitude to your customers on monthly, weekly, or even daily basis? How would your body and mind react? It’s worth giving this a try if this isn’t part of your weekly sales routine. I know it has impacted me personally and professionally.

People love to receive cards and show them off!

This also happens within the business and sales world. Sending a handwritten note has some hidden effects that you may not even realize. Yes, you probably made your customer’s week if you send them one but what can happen afterwards can be a big boost to your brand and company. Think about all the possibilities:
