1. Coronavirus concerns
Israeli and Palestinian authorities have declared state of emergency and placed Bethlehem under quarantine because there are 7 cases of coronavirus in the city. Governments around the world are racing to contain the virus and concerns about the spread and the increasing cases have sent international markets falling.
2. Idlib ceasefire
A ceasefire agreed between the Russian and Turkish presidents has come into effect in the Syrian province of Idlib. Measures that have been agreed include the joint patrols and safety corridor. Escalating fighting in recent weeks has raised fears of direct confrontation between Russia and Turkey.
3. Elizabeth Warren ends campaign
Elizabeth Warren has dropped out the race to be the nominee of the democratic party to fight Donald Trump for the presidency after poor showing this week’s Super Tuesday primaries. So far she has declined to endorse either Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders as the party’s nominee.
